Hi Steven,
we checked all possibilities connected to this topic and looked for the easiest and most flexible solution. Not everyone has a passport, not everyone a drivers license, not everyone wants to hand out their birth certificate. Our solution takes respect to privacy issues and is flexible.
Credit Card age verification might of been cheaper for you in your case but looking at it in total from a merchants point of view it is more expensive.
Best regards,

I understand the passing of 1-1 costs, but why couldn't you verify with a passport/drivers license or even birth certificate. I would even go as far to say that Credit Card age verification is cheaper.. I've done this before and it only cost £2. If a child does in fact have a credit card, then this child is using an adults card, and therefore the person who owns this card is liable for any charges/orders made on that card.

Hi Steven,
the limitations ofcredit card age verification include the fact that some children have access to credit cards and it would make the content inaccessible to those users without credit cards or those not willing to supply the credit card details.
Age verification via credit card imposes high costs on merchants who must pay to verify the cards. Use for verification without putting through a charge is viewed by disfavor by the credit card industry. So in the end the costs of the age verification are passed on to you somewhere along the line. We believe in "no hidden costs" and that is why we pass on the costs of verification 1-to-1.
By sending the code via post we verify the postal address and make swapping safer for all parties.
Best regards,
Adam

How can you justify £5 for a verification process, when credit cards do it for free?
