The new flip price system is here!
A short time ago we asked you whether you would like to set the flip price yourself, and choose your swapping partner yourself. You (ca. 62% of the members who answered) said “Yes!”
We’ve been hard at work updating the site to include this, and the new site went live at the beginning of this week.
Here’s overview of the most important changes for you:
- When inserting an item, you will be able to choose how many flips you would like to have for it, and to specify the condition of the item. You also have the opportunity to give a short description of the item. We suggest a fair flip price, based on the current retail price, so you only need to decide the price yourself when you want to. The new condtions for offered items are called “New, As new, Good, Acceptable and Incomplete”. Guidelines for entering your item correctly are on the site.
- When choosing an item, you can see different offers of an item from other Hitflippers in the item detailed view, inclusive of the condition, the flip price, and the person offering the item, and can choose your swap partner in this way yourself.
- In future the wishlist will still be used on Hitflip. Now you can even enter the maximum Flip price you are willing to pay, the minimum condition of the item, and the minimum rating of the swap partner. The “swap now” function is on every page.
Please update your library accordingly
Items that were already in your library at the time of the change have been given the condition “good”. The flip price has stayed the same. Please make any necessary or desired changes to this, and give a short description of the condition.
To answer the speculation:
Hitflip won’t lose any of its simplicity through the change. With wishlists for items that are currently not offered, we say “first come, first served”. Items that previously were not offered due to too low a valuation, or in a condition that was not acceptable according to our previous rules, can now be added by members. Items that were too highly valued will now be more fairly priced, and so swapped away from the person offering them. Members who misuse our swap community will be even more strictly punished, as they will receive no more items after receiving too many negative ratings.
If something goes wrong with the delivery of the item, or you receive an item that doesn’t meet the conditions described, the Hitflip Guarantee will protect you as usual.
More focus on the community
Hitflip’s appearance has also changed with the new features. Hitflip’s members are now a stronger focus of the site. The community is an important part of the site, and we have introduced new features to reflect this, such as a Member search function.
Thinner and quicker
The design of the site has also become thinner and clearer. The right sidebar is gone, and functions from it are moved to the top of the page to the member area. The ToDo lists are also gone. All ToDos can now be seen in the library or the wish list. Lastly the “new” Hitflip should run noticably faster.
Terms of Service
In order to cover these changes in our Terms of Service, we have had to adapt them. You can read the new Terms of Service here.
Thank you for helping us to improve Hitflip!
We hope you enjoy exploring the new site, and as always, wishing you lots of fun swapping!
Your
Hitflip Team
