How To 6: Receive the items you desire
You’ve acquired flips and now want some DVDs, CDs, and books in exchange? Then continue reading. Here you will learn about the best ways to find and receive the items you are looking for. Maybe you are already familiar with the basics of how to get some new items and have several items on your wish list. We will reveal the important factors which can change your position on the wish list for highly requested items.
Step 1) Get familiar with the basics and get flips and credit
If you are new to Hitflip then you should first read the basic How it Works section on how to get items you want and the FAQs. In order to receive items you need sufficient flips and credit. If you have just got started, you probably only have 1 flip and 0.79 GBP of credit. Since we have many items which cost only 1 flip, you can get started right away. Highly desired items however, usually cost more than one flip. In that case you need to get more flips for your account. You have 2 choices. Either you can swap some items you want to get rid of or you have to buy flips. Read the How to swap more effectively page in order learn how to get flips quickly through swapping . If you want to receive more than one item you will definitely have to buy credit first. Please note that you need 1.49 GBP in order to receive premium items which cost 7 flips or more.
Step 2) Find items and fill your wish list
You have enough flips and credit and want some valuable media items now? Then you should search Hitflip for media items. Use our search function, browse our categories or check our top lists where you will find immediately available items. For detailed explanations on how to search more successfully on Hitflip check out our How to find your favourite items page. Some items that you desire will not be available right away. For this reason you can put those items on your wish list. As an example we will take the Wii game ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’:
as you can see, 6 Hitflip users have the game on their wish list. If you were interested in this item you would click on the ‘Wish’ button at the top right corner. The more items you put on your personal wish list, the more likely it is that you will receive an item. Please note that you can always change your wish list by clicking on ‘Wish list‘ in your right navigation bar.
Step 3) Jump the queue no matter how many people are on the wish list
If you have read our FAQs you will already know that the wish lists do not work on a first come first serve basis. There are many factors that influence your position on the list. One important factor which we mentioned above is to have sufficient flips and credit. Consequently, if other users do not have enough flips or credit you will have priority in the distribution of items. So purchasing more flips is one way to increase the chance of getting to the front of the queue for highly requested items.
Since Hitflip is a community, those who contribute are more likely to receive items. There are several ways to contribute which will be discussed in detail in a different How To. Important factors are how many items you swap and offer for swapping and also how good your ratings are.
If you want an item which many users have on their wish list, offer a similar popular item for swapping. Simply use your advanced search to see which item are highly requested

Inviting friends is another way to contribute to the Hitflip community and thus to increase your chances of receiving items with a long waiting list fast. Writing reviews, uploading cover pictures and tagging items will certainly also help.
