Optimising your Hitflip settings? There are several features on your settings page you should have a look at. It’s definitely worth it. Here you will learn how to adjust your email settings or set up our text messaging service. We will also tell you how to change your privacy and friends settings. Have you ever scroll down your settings page? Probably not. Read on and learn which valuable information you are missing out on.

First you have to go to your settings page. In order to do that, simply click on ‘Settings’ in your right navigation.

Now we will discuss all the information and functions which you can find on the settings page:

 

1.) Personal Details

The first thing you will see on your settings page will be your personal details. You probably already know how to change your email address, your password, your delivery address, profile image, pseudonym and how to change your profile description. Many of those features have been discussed in our How to set up your my.Hitflip page. Lets discuss some features which might be more interesting to you:

 

Email Settings

Here you can not only subscribe or unsubscribe to our newsletter but also decide if you want to be notified if items on your watch or wish list are reduced in price. You can even get notifications when items in your library change in price. Just choose ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for the different options and click on ‘Submit’.

 

Text alert settings

Yes, you can get text messages from Hitflip. All you have to do is to enter your mobile phone number and choose what kind of info you want to receive. You can get a text message if items have been sent to you, reminders to send requested items or a notification when items on your watch list are reduced in price. Please note that we charge 5 pence per text alert.

 

Friends Settings

You have some friends and would like to know what kind of items they like? In your friends settings you can decide to receive an email whenever a friend of you rates an article with 5 stars. If you do not trust the taste of all your Hitflip friends you can select only the ones which opinion you trust by ticking/unticking them. Don’t forget to click on ‘Save’ once you have made your selection.

 

 

Enter Date of Birth

That sounds like a quite easy thing right? So why do we mention it? Well, maybe you are not aware that you get one free flip as a gift from us to your birthday. One flip is enough to get one DVD, CD or a book. If however we do not know your date of birth, we can’t give you your birthday present.

 

 

Add other Profiles

Do you have other profiles on the world wide web? If you have a website or a myspace, flickr, youtube, delicious, FOAF, Xing, places, mister-wong or spin account (just to mention a few of our options), then you can add your pseudonyms, so other Hitflip users will be able to find you.

 

2.) Transactions

Right below the ‘Personal Details’ section you will find information about your transactions. Here you will find information about your flip balance, your credit balance and your ratings. Since the first two are rather obvious we will only explain the ratings part.

 

If you click on ‘Show Ratings‘ you will see a page showing all ratings received and all given. Simply click on ‘Received’ and ‘Written’.

 

 

 

3.) Recommend Hitflip

We already discussed ‘How to invite friends‘ but here you can find your statistics. Click on ‘Show Statistics‘ in order so find out how many friends you have invited have actually joined the Hitflip community. This might be interesting to you because if those people also swap one item, you will receive 3 flips.

 

4.) Other stuff

 

‘Other stuff’ does not sound very exciting but you should definitely know what it’s all about. First of all you can find all the items which you have rated by clicking on ‘Items rated‘. Here the example for Julias Page:

 

Do you have a gift coupon? Then the ‘Other stuff’ section on your settings page is important for you too. By clicking on ‘Redeem voucher‘ you will access a page where you can enter your coupon code.

 

You might have already guessed that the ‘Show comments’ link will take you to to a page which will display all your comments. Julia wrote some too:

 

 

 

5. RSS feeds

This feature is for those that want to integrate lists of Hitflip items into their website or blog.

 

Click on ‘Additional information about available feeds‘ to see all Feeds we offer.
